People are at the heart of our business, and we’re nothing without them. When they succeed, we succeed and we add more value to our customers’ lives.

Our inclusion, equity and diversity agenda, driven directly by our Chief People Officer, allows everyone to be themselves and achieve their potential. We aim for everyday inclusion, where we all play a part in how our people feel valued, supported, included and engaged at work.

Social inclusion

We believe in breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for all. Whether it's socio-economic circumstances, financial wellbeing, ethnicity, mental health, or other challenges we take proactive steps to empower those facing adversity.  Examples of ways we do this range from providing breakfast clubs in areas of low socio-economic deprivation, mentoring young people, providing apprenticeships and paying the real living wage for colleagues in our workforce.

We're passionate about racial equality

We’re proud signatories of the Business in the Community’s (BITC) Race at Work Charter. Because of this, we’ve appointed an Executive Sponsor for race equality and and supported race inclusion allies.

We want to achieve a true gender balance

As strong supporters of the Women in Finance Charter, we’re committed to improving our gender diversity in senior management. We’re aiming for a 50/50 balance in our senior leadership by 2030. You can read more about our goals in our Gender pay gap report, 2023. We’re also passionate about increasing female representation in STEM courses and our technology roles.

What’s more, since 2020 we’ve been a founding partner of the Women in Banking and Finance (WIBF) Accelerating Change Together research programme.

Supporting our disabled colleagues

In July 2022 we became a member of the Business Disability Forum. Since then, we're proud to now be a recognised as a 'Disability Confident - level 1' employer, as part of the Disability Confident Scheme too. This allows us to better support our candidates and colleagues.

We’re proud

Our Aegon Proud network supports the LGBTQIA+ community and allies, helping colleagues feel like they belong and can be themselves. We're proud to have ambassador status in the LGBTQIA+ global benchmark Workplace Pride and the work Aegon Proud carries out is an integral part of how we have achieved this standard.

Bringing generations together

It’s vital that we understand the challenges our colleagues face at every stage of life. From getting their first job, to parenthood and mortgages – all the way up to retirement, we have communities you can join which support parents and carers, and those going through menopause, which are great ways to meet others experiencing similar stages in life.

By sharing our perspectives, we can widen our view of the world and better discover how to navigate obstacles in our own lives.

Whoever you are and whatever you’re looking for, you'll be noticed and heard here at Aegon. There’s nowhere better to shape your career.
